The Pocket Orchestra believes that small is beautiful: in a world of excess, we are downsizing. Formed in a back garden in Brixton, South London, we make bite-sized instruments create an unexpectedly gigantic sound. The players are Ali Milne-Tyte on mandolin and vocals, Paul Parsons on the mini organ, Pete Gibbons on the bonsai bass and Will Grove-White on ukulele and vocals.
Our tiny ensemble’s performances are joyful occasions, and audiences warm to the sound of our vertically challenged instruments – they often find themselves joining in with spontaneous whooping, community singing, and standing ovations. We take great pride in our compact arrangements and bijoux reinterpretations of colossal tunes.
Come and listen to our beautifully shambolic orchestrations and prepare to get your toes tapping. From The Prodigy to Bonnie Tyler via Prince and Chas ‘n’ Dave, there’s something for everyone. We perform regularly at The Bird House Brewery in Herne Hill, London SE24.
