This is essentially a soprano ukulele with a huge tenor body and the sound it makes is immense! Although the body is thin, at only about 4cm, the large cedar top makes it ring out around the room. It has a mellower tone than a regular soprano, with more depth. Because the neck joins the body at the 8th fret this is for those who don't travel up to the dusty end of the fretboard very often. Walnut back and sides, with an ebony fretboard and bridge, this is one of the loudest soprano ukuleles I've ever heard.
The cedar top was gifted to me by Pete Howlett and is recovered wood from the famous Oregon Biscuit Fire of 2002. The ebony fretboard and bridge is made from offcuts from a picture-frame maker friend who has made frames for the Royal Family and National Gallery.
Der Jung friction tuners and Aquila strings.
It measures roughly 56cm (length), 22cm (widest width) and 4cm (depth).
