A stunning-looking and fantastic sounding soprano bodied yew Wonkylele with a concert scale length. It may look peculiar but it's made to my usual high specifications and sounds great. The askew angle of the neck actually makes it easier to play because the player's wrist is in a more natural position.
This is a left-handed wonkylele (for a left-handed player the neck has to wonk up the opposite way to a right-handed wonkylele so that the ergonomic playing position can be achieved). This wonderfully patterned yew is reclaimed from a storm at a botanical garden in East Sussex. There's a purpleheart seam running up the middle of the oak neck. Real ebony bridge and fingerboard (offcuts from a local frame maker). Fitted with fantastic Gotoh UPT tuners and fluorocarbon strings with a low G.
And contrary to what you might think, my wonkyleles fit comfortably into regular cases (see pics on THIS page).
This was a commission and measures roughly 58cm (length), 18cm (widest width) and 5.5cm (depth).
